The Recreation & Parks Commission offers athletic programs that provide instruction in fitness training, skill development tactical play, and rules of good sportsmanship appropriate to each age level. The Commission expects that all players in its programs will receive fair playing time. Good sportsmanship is viewed as a commitment to fair playing time, ethical behavior, and integrity. By definition, sportsmanship is characterized by generosity, genuine respect and sensitivity toward others. All participants including players, coaches, and parents shall conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner on and off the field. In order to be cleared to coach for the New Castle Recreation & Parks Department Youth Sports Leagues and affiliated youth athletic programs. New Castle Youth Sports OrganizationsThe following organizations are recognized by the New Castle Recreation and Parks Commission as providers of youth sports programs. Each program meets Gold Medal standards and criteria set by the Commission. Chappaqua Youth Soccer ClubThe Chappaqua Youth Soccer Club is organized for those players who wish to make a commitment to competitive soccer. This program runs from Fall to Spring and places teams in the Westchester Youth Soccer League. Evaluations are held the two weeks after Memorial Day for the following Fall and Spring season. New Castle Lacrosse AssociationThe New Castle Lacrosse Association is a youth lacrosse organization whose mission is to provide girls and boys youth lacrosse programs that inspire participation while protecting the integrity of the game and to provide the New Castle community with the opportunity to participate in the game of lacrosse. We strive to help players develop their skills in a safe and fun environment while placing higher value on sportsmanship and learning, rather than soley on winning. Through positive and effective leadership, we hope to provide every child the opportunity to discover, learn, participate and develop a love and passion for the game of Lacrosse. AYSO SoccerThe organization’s mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs where everyone builds positive character through participation in a fun, family environment, based on the AYSO philosophies: everyone plays, balanced teams, positive coaching, open registration, and good sportsmanship. The core values which guide the American Youth Soccer Organization are: fun for all, education for all, ethics for all, accessible to all. More information is available online at www.chappaquaayso.org New Castle Youth Basketball AssociationThe NCYBA provides 5th through 8th grade boys and girls in Town of New Castle with the opportunity to play competitive inter-town basketball. The coaches and volunteers who administer the NCYBA are dedicated to the future development of youth basketball in this area and emphasize skill-building, team-work and sportsmanship. New Castle Baseball & Softball AssociationThe NCBSA conducts a wide range of programs for boys and girls from Kindergarten through 8th grade who are interested in playing baseball and softball. The philosophy of the NCBSA is to provide a participatory program in which children with all levels of ability can learn and play baseball and softball safely, with as much fun as possible.
